The center was founded in 1993 as a Religious Ministry. With a goal to offer a free, non-formal educational support program for both primary and secondary school age orphans, street children, disabled, reformed, ex-prisoners, street families, slow learners, HIV positive children, malnourished or abandoned children, and the mentally handicapped. We also offer sports, music, choir, and other programs to help the childen grow and learn.
Currently the number of orphans has grown to the tune of over 1000 street children left loitering without parents, shelter, clothing, food, medical care, education, skills, and other basic needs required for survival. We are congested in a 1/4 (one-quarter) acre plot, which is left without room for expansion or any other development.
Currently all staff are volunteers and are not paid for their time or services. Many are former orphans who went through the center themselves.
The DCRC Is also supported by Project Thrive, please visit them for more information.
